Candidate files suit for defamation

By

Enid attorney Stephen Jones filed a lawsuit Friday in Kingfisher County District Court on behalf of Republican State Senate District 26 candidate JJ Stitt.

Common Sense Conservatives LLC and three unnamed “John Does” are listed as defendants.

The lawsuit alleges that a Google Ad and YouTube video paid for by Common Sense LLC, which lists a Tulsa address, is “false, libelous, slanderous and defamatory.”

The video claims that Stitt was named in an emergency protective order filed by his ex-wife that alleges that Stitt kicked and punched her and “even broke her dog’s jaw,” according to the lawsuit.

“These statements are false. The statements have caused and continue to cause the Plaintiff to suffer a financial loss if these defamatory statements cause him to lose the election,” the lawsuit states.
