Car show this Sunday in Hennessey

Cruis’n Oklahoma’s Facebook page shows that 838 members have responded they’ll be in Hennessey this Sunday, May 19, for what has become an annual event for the car group.

Car club members will start their cruise from Blanchard High School at “around” 10:30 a.m. for an expected 90-minute cruise into Hennessey.

There is more than one route they could take from Blanchard, but you’re sure to hear them if they come close to you via U.S. Highway 81 or State Highway 51.

Hennessey’s Main Street will be blocked off to routine traffic from S.H. 51 south on U.S. 81 to Love’s Country Store (East 7th Street) from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

In addition to the free car show, most of the Main Street businesses and restaurants will be open and there will be live music on the streets, say planners.

No parking will be allowed in driveways, or blocking driveways.

There is free parking in the lots next to the Eagle Event Center at the high school (three blocks east of stoplight).

The club’s FB site shows these events and competitions are scheduled throughout the town: ATV/UTV barrel racing; Drifting exhibition, Dyno competition, Drone racing, RC car racing; Burnout contest, and DB contest. Entry fees will be distributed to winners.

There will also be helicopter rides, and a bounce house for children.

Hennessey police will be patrolling Main Street and side streets that day if you need assistance.
