Cashion’s Hasley has surprise visitors
Cashion resident Mary Hasley received two surprise visits recently.
Hasley was a homeroom mother for her son Mark Beutler’s class at Cashion Public School and two former classmates visited her at her Cashion home.
Sabra Malone Huntsberger came by for a Sunday visit in early July and spent the day reminiscing.
Hasley recounted stories about Sabra’s father, the late Leon Malone, who she babysat as a teenager growing up in Cashion.
Also, Mike Winans stopped by for a chat on July 31.
He was in town for his 40th class reunion, and had traveled from his home near Cocoa Beach, Fla.
Hasley remembered Mike’s father, the late Donald Winans, who had arranged a first-grade field trip for the young class.
The elder Winans arranged a train ride from Guthrie to Edmond and then a trip to the airport where the class toured a TWA airplane.
Hasley celebrated her 89th birthday on July 10 and is one of only two remaining homeroom mothers for the original class which started first grade in 1969.
