Cashion class of ‘81 has 40-year reunion
The Cashion High School graduating class of 1981 held its 40th reunion Saturday, July 31.
The event was held in Oklahoma City at the home of classmate Mark Beutler.
“We were the kids who grew up with 8-track tapes, Farrah Fawcett and the Brady Bunch,” Beutler said.
“We shopped at TG&Y, dined at Casa Bonita and cruised Cashion’s Main Street on Saturday night. Some of us had not seen each other in 40 years yet picked up like no time had passed.”
Michael Winans traveled the farthest from his home near Cocoa Beach, Fla.
He was one of the original classmates who started first grade together in August 1969.
Guests were served potluck style snacks, sipped their favorite beverage and talked over old times.
Favorite teachers were discussed, as well as memories of their senior trip to South Padre Island, and reminisced about classmates who are no longer here.
“Those 40 years went by in the blink of an eye,” Beutler said. “We started first grade as children and came of age together as young adults. A popular song from our high school days was ‘We Are Family,’ and after all these years, indeed we are.”
