Cashion FFA hosts annual banquet

The Cashion FFA Chapter held its annual banquet on May 14.

The evening began at 6 p.m. with a meal in the school cafeteria.

FFA members served the meal and provided drinks.

The banquet began at 7 p.m. in the school auditorium. It began with a chapter slide show and the chapter officers performed the FFA opening ceremonies.

Emerson Belt gave the welcome while Grayson Stewart introduced special guests.

The top salesperson award was presented to Emerson Belt for both the fall and spring fundraisers.

FFA Proficiency Awards were presented to the following: Swine Production – Grayson Stewart; Beef production – Cathleen Hamil; Grain Production – Cathleen Hamil; Fruit Production – Jackson Drake; Vegetable Production – Jackson Drake; Ag Communications – Jackson Drake; Nursery Operations – Madison Westerhoff; Ag Mechanics Design and Fabrication – Nolin Farrar; Sheep Production – Dally Pedersen and Equine Science – Dally Pedersen.

Scholastic Awards were awarded to the FFA members who maintained an “A” average in their agricultural education class all year. Those winners were: Eighth Ag Orientation – Emerson Belt, Maggie Carroll, Colson Cotter, Maddox Gibson, Jud Graham, Jack Hardaway, Mason Hisey, Crocker Hoesli, Houston Jerry, Zoe Lukasek, Molly Mayes, Cash Nye, Nate Poindexter, Olive Powell, Kiaser Stout, Otto Trello Ag Science – Crew Atkinson, Nolin Farrar, Jakob LaBlue, Garet McKeever, Dally Pedersen, Adalynne Poston, Colby Swickey, Slade Williams Ag Power and Technology – Parker Atkinson, Emerson Brandt, Sheldon Gentry, Hank Hudson, Nick Jolliff, Travis Loeffelholz, Cayden Seely, Derek Sheline, Ethan Waswo Horticulture – Bella Ball, Jaylee Harp, Luke Summers Ag Communication – Cathleen Hamil, Ava Hudson, Grayson Stewart, Madison Westerhoff The Leadership, Citizenship, Sportsmanship and Workhorse Awards were all voted on by the FFA members.

Madison Westerhoff was the Leadership Award winner.

Jackson Drake was the winner of the Citizenship Award.

Colby Swickey was the Sportsmanship Award winner.

The winner of the Workhorse Award was Derek Sheline.

Twenty-one Cashion FFA eighth grade members were awarded the Discovery FFA Degree. The Greenhand FFA Degree was awarded to 18 ninth grade members. Seven 10th grade members were awarded the Chapter FFA Degree.

Fifty Cashion FFA supporters and community leaders were awarded a Certificate of Appreciation for their continued support of the FFA chapter.

John Schaeffer was recognized for his support of the FFA program and youth by winning the Cashion FFA Honorary FFA Degree.

Sarah Jolliff was also awarded the Cashion FFA Honorary FFA Degree for her involvement in the FFA chapter.

Six Greenhand FFA Degree winners were awarded the Star Greenhand Award. Those members include Jackson Drake, Nolin Farrar, Dally Pedersen, Adalynne Poston, John Robinson and Sadie Weaver.

Cashion High School Principal Ryan Schenk recognized Cathleen Hamil as the winner of the Star Chapter Farmer Award.

Senior Grayson Stewart was awarded the Cashion 4H and FFA Booster Club Scholarship.

Cashion FFA Advisor Holly Drake handed out the following awards to our FFA members.

• Outstanding Eighth Grade Members – Emerson Belt, Maggie Carroll, Jack Hardaway, Cash Nye, Nate Poindexter and Kiaser Stout

• Eagle Eye Award for Livestock Judging – Dally Pedersen

• Eagle Eye Award for Fall Shotgun Shooting – Derek Sheline

• Eagle Eye Award for Spring Shotgun Shooting – Emerson Brandt

• Eagle Eye Award for Archery – Derek Sheline

• FFA Creed Award – Dally Pedersen

• American FFA Degree Recognition – Ryann Ball

• And Then Some Award – Maggie Carroll

• FFA Motivation Award for Teamwork – Emerson Brandt

• FFA Motivation Award for Growth – Ava Hudson

• FFA Motivation for Effort – Nick Jolliff

• FFA Motivation for Attitude – Parker Atkinson

• FFA Motivation for Success – Maggie Carroll

• FFA Motivation for Excellence – Derek Sheline

• State Recognition for FFA Sporting Clays – Derek Sheline for fifth place at the state contest

• State Recognition for Prepared Public Speaking – Maggie Carroll for second place in Eighth Ag Exploration speech and third place in Eighth/Ninth FFA Opportunities at the state contest The banquet concluded with the senior FFA members recognizing their parents on stage at the banquet.

Senior FFA members included Parker Atkinson, Emerson Brandt, Cathleen Hamil, Ava Hudson, Nick Jolliff, Derek Sheline and Grayson Stewart.

The 2023-2024 FFA offi cers introduced the new FFA officer team for the 2024-2025 school year.

The new officers are: Madison Westerhoff, president; Dally Pedersen, vice president; Adalynne Poston, secretary; Jackson Drake, reporter; Nolin Farrar, sentinel.

The Cashion FFA chapter would like to extend our appreciation to the members, parents, school staff and administration for another amazing year.
