Cashion FFA steps up through meetings, committee events
Service, teamwork and unity have been the focus of the Cashion FFA chapter this fall as members attend monthly meetings and prepare for committee events.
From fun-filled meetings to service challenges, members are embracing the spirit of the FFA organization inside and out of the classroom.
The officer team has stayed true to their goals, hosting monthly meetings to increase member involvement.
In August, Cashion FFA hosted a back-to-school bash in the agriculture classroom and gymnasium.
Members were introduced to the 2025-26 officer team, learned about opportunities in the Cashion FFA chapter and split into small groups for the year.
Games were played to encourage teamwork – a highlight being the pickleball tournament.
Parliamentarian Addison Hood said she is pleased with the success of the meeting.
“Beyond the fun and games, I think the meeting gave students a chance to learn about FFA values and we were able to talk about what teams members could get involved in,” Hood said.
“I thought we had great attendance and people really enjoyed when our officer team recited the opening and closing ceremonies. The chapter is looking forward to a year full of growth and leadership.”
In September, the Cashion FFA Chapter hosted a Farmhand Olympics- themed meeting, where members competed in various challenges, such as an egg and spoon race, roping practice on a dummy and a hula hoop chain game.
The chapter had record attendance for the year, with nearly 40 members showing up to compete on teams of four.
Along with the challenges, FFA members joined different committees for the school year, led by the officer team.
The committees are as follows:
• Community Service Committee
• Blood Drive Committee
• Food Bank Committee
• National FFA Day Committee
• Achievement Day Committee
• FFA Float Committee
• Toy Drive Committee
• Booster Bash Committee By joining different committees promoting the Cashion FFA Chapter and community, members are able to gain valuable service skills and be involved with the future plans of the chapter.
Their help in upcoming and ongoing events is vital.
Several committee events have already passed.
For National FFA Day, committee members (led by Sentinel Jackson Drake) created a Jeopardy-style game that FFA members completed in class to celebrate the day.
The game had categories such as FFA Advisors, FFA History, Chapter Officers and more.
It served as a unique and fun way to quiz members on all things FFA while keeping class time fun and entertaining.
The FFA float at the Cashion homecoming parade was a success.
Members showed up to toss candy in the parade on the float, decorated with a theme of “Beat the Eagles,” celebrating the upcoming football game against Watonga.
One member, Tanner Holman, added to the float’s theme by dressing up in an eagle onesie costume.
Another important committee event recently wrapped up on Oct. 30 – the blood drive.
In partnership with Our Blood Institute, members of the blood drive committee worked to gain donors, advertising the event as “Saving a Vampire.”
In addition to the Farmhand Olympics- themed meeting, Cashion FFA hosted an October Chapter meeting with the themes of tailgating and Halloween.
Members were encouraged to dress up for the costume contest and participated in Halloween-themed games.
Officers gave updates on their committees and members were given opportunities to serve in the months ahead.
An important service event FFA members have participated in is the “Pop Tab Challenge” in competition with Cashion Elementary.
The ongoing challenge is simple – members and elementary students face off to see who can donate the highest amount of pop tabs by December.
All pop tabs collected will be given to the Ronald Mc-Donald Foundation, where they will be recycled to raise money for various needs.
Inside the classroom, members have been learning about the places FFA can take them outside of school.
In early October, Cashion’s agricultural education classes had their first-ever “Career Day,” where professionals in the agriculture industry visited.
The first career pathway focused on occupations in agricultural communications.
Students gained knowledge from professionals and learned about different opportunities in high school and beyond.
The chapter plans had a Thanksgiving-themed meeting on Nov. 18 as well.
As members prepare for spring contests and gear up for committee meetings, leadership training, conferences and more, Cashion FFA continues to step up to new opportunities, following the FFA motto of “Living to Serve” in a busy season.
