Charmasson earns showmanship honors at National Western
Cade Charmasson, son of Chad and Amy Charmasson of Hennessey exhibited his sheep at the 2022 National Western Livestock Show in Denver Colorado.
Charmasson’s hard work was on display as he was named Reserve Junior Premier Exhibitor and his lamb was selected for the Auction of Junior Livestock Champions on Jan. 21.
Earl and Candy Enix of Centennial, Colo., purchased Charmasson’s lamb at the auction.
Enix is a 1973 graduate of Hennessey High School, selected to the Hennessey High School Hall of Fame in 2019 and established the Enix Family Scholarship for Hennessey High School graduates in 2017.
Earl and Candy say they enjoy supporting youth programs and our future leaders of tomorrow.
Charmasson was required to take an industry-related quiz, give a two-minute speech and complete an interview with a panel of judges.
Other components of the premier exhibitor competition included his live placing, showmanship placing and participation level at the 116th National Western Livestock Show.
Only 96 of the best market animals were selected for the Friday night auction.
The 2022 Auction of Junior Livestock Champions set recording-breaking numbers and the purpose of the sale is to encourage today’s youth to seek a future in agriculture and to further their education.
A majority of the winning bid price goes directly to the junior exhibitor and 10 percent of each bid price is donated to support the National Western Scholarship Trust.
Additional Charmasson Club Lambs that showed well and sold at the auction were the champion Dorset lamb exhibited by Alexa Anderson of Ringwood and the champion Speckle Face lamb exhibited by Olivia Sandy of Stephenville, Texas.
