Citizens make requests during county meeting
Kingfisher County commissioners heard two citizen requests Monday at their weekly meeting.
Steve Baustert, west of Kingfisher, reported that a heavy dust problem on Cemetery Road (south from S.H.33 on NS 2830) was being created by increasing heavy truck traffic and asked about the possibility of placing the road on the county’s chip and seal program.
Oilfield trucks are increasing use of the road due to heavily used facilities in the vicinity.
Commissioners discussed the problem but no action was taken as it was not on the agenda.
The road is part of District 3.
Bill Reitz, representing Kingfisher Rural Water District No. 3, asked approval for a county resolution endorsing financial assistance from the Rural Economic Action Plan (REAP).
Reitz said the district is seeking to upgrade a water main and has pledged $20,493 toward the project if full funding is not awarded.
Commissioners approved the request unanimously on motion of District 2 Commissioner Ray Alan Shimanek and second by District 3 Commissioner Anthony Schwarz with District 1 Commissioner Jeff Moss joining them in the vote.
Commissioners approved an Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) supplemental and modification agreement for flood damage repairs on the Dover-Crescent paving project in District 2 involving CIRB (County Improvement for Roads and Bridges) funds.
The projects included the following locations: E700 Road at N2882, E 730 Road at N288.8 Road and N2970 Road at E 71.8 Road.
The new funding table showed estimated cost of $790,872 including $158,175 in CIRB funding on one project, total estimated cost of $890,383 on a second with $178,077 in CIRB, and $1,070,857 total estimated cost on the third project with $214,172 in CIRB funds used.
CIRB funds are collected by the state for use by counties to improve deficient facilities.
Commissioners approved a survey plat for Trails End, Phase 1, a housing addition south of Cashion in the southeast corner of the county.
Commissioners had tabled action on the plat at last week’s meeting to allow staff study.
A medical staffing and administration amendment for the sheriff’s offi ce with Turn Key Health Clinic effective as of Oct. 1 received approval.
Sheriff Dennis Banther attended the meeting.
Two public access drives, one in District 1 and one in District 3, received approval.
Citizen Energy III received approval for a drive access with a 24-inch by 90 foot long culvert in District 1 located north of E850 Road along N2900 Road, Moss said.
Durango Services received approval for an access drive in District 3 located nine miles west and three miles north of Okarche.
All commissioners plus Baustert, Reitz, Banther, County Clerk Jeannie Boevers as minute clerk and County Engineer Nik Smith attended the meeting.
