Kingfisher voters will finally decide who will be their next city commissioner in a runoff election Tuesday, Sept. 14, between candidates Geoff Covalt and Kaci Farrar.

Covalt and Farrar were the top votegetters in a three-way race with incumbent Richard Ray Reynolds last April.

The runoff was delayed until this month due to the state’s oddyear election calendar, which reserved the months of May-August for bond issue elections only.

Absentee Ballots

Tuesday, Sept. 7, is the deadline to request absentee ballots through the mail.

“In Oklahoma, no excuse is needed to vote by absentee ballot and it’s easy to apply,” Kingfisher County Election Board Secretary Shawna Butts said. “Voters can submit their application online, in person, by fax, mail or even email.”

Voters can apply online using the OK Voter Portal at Oklahoma.gov/elections/ovp or pick up an application at the county election board.

Early Voting

Early voting begins Thursday, Sept. 9, for those who won’t make it to the polls on election day.

Butts said early voting is an option open to all registered voters from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the county election board office in the county courthouse.

Election Day

Registered voters living within the Kingfisher city limits also can vote at their normal polling places from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sept. 14.

Butts reminds both early voters and those who choose to vote on election day that they need to present their official voter registration card or driver’s license or other state-issued photo ID to receive a ballot.
