A damaged piece of equipment caused a citywide electricity outage on Wednesday afternoon.

Kingfisher went dark around 4 p.m. when a pole caught fire on the south end of town.

Kingfisher Electric crews found the source of the outage and worked to change out a damaged switch, according to a message on the City of Kingfisher’s Facebook page.

“Once we were able to find the source, we were able to change it out,” said Electric Superintendent Mark Gambill. “We keep a lot of those materials in stock.”

Gambill estimated power was restored within an hour of going out.
