Miriam the comfort dog and her handlers from Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Kingfisher were deployed to Uvalde, Texas, within 24 hours of the school shooting Tuesday.

The local group was among eight Lutheran K-9 teams from Oklahoma, Texas and Colorado sent to offer comfort to survivors, family members and first responders in the wake of the tragedy that claimed the lives of 19 young children and two teachers at Robb Elementary School.
