Commissioners recognize OHCE Week
Kingfisher County commissioners hosted officers of the Kingfisher County chapter of Oklahoma Home and Community Education, a division of Oklahoma State University Extension Service, Monday at their weekly meeting.
Lindy Peterman, Family and Consumer Sciences Educator for the Kingfisher County Extension office, read a proclamation for OHCE Week, part of a statewide event, May 5-11, which commissioners approved for Kingfisher County.
County officers appearing with Peterman included Dr. Ashley Cowan Neal of Kingfisher, secretary; Desiree Austin of Kingfisher, treasurer; Jamie Akenhead of Hennessey, vice president and Dot Miller of Hennessey, president.
The proclamation cites the family as the catalyst and primary purpose of American society, the infl uence of OHCE statewide while serving as a safeguard for the primary ideals of strong family life.
Commissioners Jeff Moss, District 1, and Anthony Schwarz, District 3, joined the OHCE officers for a photograph following the presentation. District 2 Commissioner Ray Alan Shimanek was not present.
Nick Storm of Storm and Hauser, CPAs, the county budget maker, presented a monthly cash summary balance report for all county departments through April to commissioners during the business session.
Monthly reports for the offices of assessor, sheriff, health department county clerk, treasurer and court clerk received approval.
Schwarz reported that he had filed for office, subject to the Aug. 27 special election to complete the term of recently resigned District 3 Commissioner Heath Dobrovolny, who has accepted employment with the state of New Mexico. The special election will fill the final two years of the District 3 term. Schwarz was appointed by Gov. Kevin Stitt as interim commissioner until the special election.
Also present for the meeting were County Clerk Jeannie Boevers, minute clerk, and County Engineer Nik Smith.
