Contract paves way for parking lot at courthouse

By

Kingfisher County commissioners approved a $250,000 contract with SPM Services of Mustang Monday to pave a new parking area at the courthouse in Kingfisher.

Chairman Heath Dobrovolny said the company has indicated it would start the project in mid-November.

Commissioners invalidated an earlier contract on the project with a Norman firm due to failure to start work in a timely fashion.

Commissioners approved payment of an invoice for work on Rural Water District No. 3 using $36,500 in Rural Economic Action Plan (REAP) grant funds supplied through the assistance of Northern Oklahoma Development Authority (NODA).

Commissioners also approved payment for parcel 3 – 1.07 acres of permanent easement – on the Robberts Avenue Bridge over Uncle John Creek, which is scheduled for replacement in coming months.

Commissioners appointed to determine a just compensation for the easement set a price of $10,990 to the owners, Michael Frank and Pat Barrackman. The action also included payment of $750 to the commissioners who assessed the price of the property, bringing the total cost of the easement to $11,740.

District 1 Commissioner Jeff Moss in whose district the bridge is located moved for paying the amount and the item was approved unanimously.

Commissioners approved a contract totaling $2,570.46 with The Grounds Guys for mowing, weeding and pruning at the courthouse grounds during the 2024 calendar year, payable on a monthly basis.

Three window units from the old jail were declared surplus, allowing them to be removed from the county property list and disposed of. The units declared surplus included a large unit, valued at $863, and two smaller Frigidaire units, each valued at $585.05 Dobrovolny agreed to represent the county Wednesday at a board meeting of Circuit Engineering District No. 8 in Alva, filling in for Ray Alan Shimanek, District 3, who said he will attend a funeral that day.

All commissioners were present for the meeting along with County Clerk Jeannie Boevers as minute clerk, County Engineer Nik Smith, who said he would be attending a state training meeting on Wednesday and Thursday, and 911 Director Ryan Deatherage.
