County again soliciting bids for parking lot project
Kingfisher County commissioners voted unanimously Monday to call for new bids for building a new parking area on the courthouse grounds.
Commissioners voted a week earlier to rescind a contract awarded in June to North End Construction of Norman after the company failed to respond to requests from the commission for a starting date on the parking lot contract.
Commissioners sent a certified letter to the contractor last week notifying that the contract had been rescinded.
The new notice to bidders states that bids will be received until 4 p.m. Sept. 15 at the office of the county clerk and will be opened at the regular meeting of commissioners on Monday, Sept. 18.
A pre-bid meeting is scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 31, at the commissioners’ office in the courthouse.
The successful bidder on the project is required to produce a performance bond upon request and to show certificates of insurance, its limits and workers compensation insurance.
Bidders must complete a statement of non-collusion and a cashier’s check, a certified check or a surety bid bond in the amount of 5% of the gross amount of the base bid as a guaranty.
Deposits will be returned to bidders after the contract is approved and submission of a 100% performance bond, a 100% statutory bond and a 100% maintenance bond. Specifications, plans and manual of the project to be bid are available online at Kingfisher.okcounties.org under the bids tab.
In other action during a four-minute meeting commissioners approved adding Matt Murray as receiving agent for the Omega Fire Department and two permits for pipeline crossings of county roads as follow:
• K&J Construction – three-inch poly line located four miles south and four miles east of Hennessey, District 2, and
• Marathon Oil Co. – 12inch water line one mile west of Okarche, District 3.
