County approves $28.5 million budget
Kingfisher County commissioners approved a budget for the 2023-24 fiscal year Monday of 28,592,876.52, up from $25,106,561.11 a year earlier.
County budgetmaker John Storm, C.P.A. at the firm Storm & Hauser, appeared at the meeting and provided copies of the budget to all commissioners, including a financial statement for county departments, including the general fund, which showed a cash balance on June 30 of $25,554,943.80 and total assets of $25,971,943.89.
It also displayed an estimate of needs totaling $31,130,126.23, including $5,005,346.49 as the balance to raise from ad valorem tax.
The health fund showed a cash balance of $1,402,695.08 as of June 30 and a total of $2,543,573.17 in current expense needs, leaving $999,119.80 to be raised from ad valorem tax.
The county has no debt, thus the sinking fund balance is blank.
Estimate of needs submitted by county offices were submitted as follow: District attorney – $18,565.88 including maintenance and operations, $14,545.88; publications, $2,020, and capital outlay $2,000.
Sheriff – $1,323,494 including full-time salaries $1,888,394; travel, $35,000; maintenance and operation, $100,000 and capital outlay, $100.
Treasurer – $295,195.63, including full-time salaries, $272,195.63; travel, $13,000, and maintenance and operation, $10,000.
Commissioners – $174,000, including fulltime salaries, $66,000; travel, $45,000; maintenance and operation, $60,000, and capital outlay, $3,000.
County clerk – $323,000, including full-time salaries, $273,000; part-time salaries, $10,000; travel, $15,000, and maintenance and operation, $25,000.
Assessor – $323,000 including full-time salaries, $268,000; travel, $15,000; maintenance and operation, $20,000 and capital outlay, $20,000.
Court clerk – $230,441.35, including fulltime salaries, $207,441.35; part-time salaries, $10,000, and travel, $13,000.
Visual inspection – $458,000, including fulltime salaries, $238,000; travel, $10,000; maintenance and operation, $200,000, and capital outlay, $10,000.
General government – $25,063,758.95, including full-time salaries, $600,000; part-time salaries, $20,000; maintenanceandoperation, $5,000,000; property insurance, $650,000, and capital outlay, $18,793,758.95.
Excise- equalization board – $8,500, including full-time salaries, $6,000; travel, $1,500, and maintenance and operation, $1,000.
Election board – $147,369.58, including fulltime salaries, $120,119.58; part-time salaries, $7,000; travel, $3,000; maintenance and operation, $17,000, and capital outlay, $250.
County purchasing – $79,000, including fulltime salaries, $62,000; travel, $2,000, and maintenance and operation, $15,000.
