County awards F.D. bids
Kingfisher County commissioners awarded two contracts on the recommendation of fire chiefs of two county fire departments Monday at their weekly meeting.
On the recommendation of Okarche Fire Chief Steve Liebl, commissioners approved the base bid of Myder Fire Support of Chickasha, plus options, for a thermal camera for $4,350 and a rear camera for $749 for a wildlands fire-fighting unit.
Other bids, all of which were opened a week earlier and action tabled to allow study included: Banner Fire Equipment, $78,557.56 with options of $3,200 for a thermal camera and $750 for a rear camera; Daco with a base bid of $119,765 plus option bids of $3,109 for a thermal camera and $1,275 for a rear camera, and J&J Custom Fire with a base bid of $145,250.25 plus option bids of $5,795 for a thermal camera, $400 for a rear camera, $1,800 for ground sprays and $1,000 for a front winch.
Omega Fire Chief B.J. Waeger recommended accepting the bid of Banner Fire Equipment of Oklahoma City totaling $30,844 to outfit a Luverne (pump- er-tanker) with fire fighting apparatus for the Omega Fire Department.
Other bids included: DACO – $44,099.82; Weis Fire and Safety, $42,083.04; Blanchat Manufacturing, $63,665, with J&J Custom Fire submitting a no bid.
In other action, commissioners approved the recommendation of the Kingfisher Tree Board, represented by Brian Walter, to plant two ornamental trees near the Jesse Chisholm statue at the southwest corner of the courthouse property, the monthly reports of sheriff, treasurer, county clerk, assessor, court clerk, election board, health department and court clerk preservation fund , monthly appropriations for the month of February and state reimbursement reports for the offices of election board and district attorney.
Two permits for county road pipeline crossings were approved, including:
• K&J Construction, 12-inch and three-inch flat lines in District 2 located one mile north and nine miles east of Dover, and,
• Ovintiv – 90 day right-of-way easement for a three-inch water line located seven miles west and three miles north of Okarche, District 3.
Commissioners Heath Dobrovolny, District 3, and Jeff Moss, District 1, were present for the meeting, along with County Clerk Jeannie Boevers as minute clerk and County Engineer Nik Smith. District 2 Commissioner Ray Alan Shimanek, District 2, was absent, attending a funeral.
