County ballot printing vendor approved
Kingfisher County commissioners approved the bid of Midwest Printing Co. of Sapulpa to provide ballots for county elections in calendar year 2025 at their meeting Monday.
Commissioners accepted the recommendation of County Election Board Secretary Shawna Butts in awarding the contract to Midwest Printing. She reported accurate and excellent service from Midwest.
A second bid was received from Royal Printing of Oklahoma City.
Commissioners inspected the tabulation of bids for road and bridge materials and commercial roadway work for the first six months of 2025, which were opened at the preceding week’s meeting, then tabled them to allow additional inspection.
The bids will appear on next week’s meeting agenda.
Commissioners approved a modification recommended by the Oklahoma Department of Transportation – adjusting the height – of a bridge over Porcupine Creek on NS 2740 Road in District 3.
District 3 Commissioner Anthony Schwarz moved to approve the modification on the bridge, which he corrected as being located 10 miles west and three miles south of Kingfisher.
District 2 Commissioner Ray Alan Shimanek seconded Schwarz’s motion with District 1 Commissioner Jeff Moss joining them in making the change unanimous for the CIRB-assisted project.
The change will increase the estimated cost of the bridge to $512,149 from $350,000 and can be administratively adjusted based on the actual cost of each phase not exceeding the total project agreement estimated cost.
Commissioners approved the contract document submitted by RCP Operations of Kingfisher for the courthouse electrical upgrade.
RCP submitted the bid of $383,615 for the project at an earlier meeting.
A change in the receiving officer for the Kingfisher County Health Department received approval, replacing Anahi Lopez with Ana Medrano.
Commissioners also approved a detention transportation claim of $88.04 for the month of November.
All commissioners were present for the meeting along with County Clerk Jeannie Boevers as minute clerk, incoming District 2 Commissioner Mike Sparks, County Engineer Nik Smith and Election Board Secretary Butts and her deputy Jessica Sotello.
Moss reported quick progress being made on the Robberts Avenue bridge and Lemon Road bridge over Uncle John Creek southeast of Kingfisher.
He said asphalt approaches to the Lemon Road bridge are all that remain before the new bridge can go into service.
