County calls for bids for HFD remodel project

By

Kingfisher County commissioners approved calling for bids for remodeling the Hennessey Fire Department at their meeting last Monday.

The motion calls for bids to be accepted until 4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, at the county clerk’s office and opened at the regular commission meeting on Feb. 21, which is a Tuesday due to Monday being the President’s Day holiday.

The project will be accomplished using the Hennessey Fire Department’s share of the countywide sales tax.

A pre-bid meeting will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, at the project site, 501 S. Main St., Hennessey.

All bidders must complete a statement of non-collusion and post surety bonds of 5% of their base bids via certified check and the successful bidder must post a 100% performance bond, 100% statutory bond and 100% maintenance bond.

Assistant Fire Chief James Matousek and Brandon Scott of the Hennessey Fire Department were present for the meeting along with all commissioners – Jeff Moss of District 1, Ray Alan Shimanek of District 2, Chairman Heath Dobrovolny of District 3, and County Clerk Jeannie Boevers, minute clerk, and County Engineer Nik Smith.

Smith reported the bid specifications would be available on the county website and a paper copy would be available for viewing (not to take) at his office in the courthouse.

Shimanek’s motion to solicit bids, seconded by Moss, received a unanimous vote.

A selection of older equipment belonging to District 2 received a unanimous vote as surplus, clearing the way for consignment to the Circuit Engineering District #8 auction in March.

Equipment includes a 1998 half-ton pickup truck, 1997 International 14-yard dump truck, Tampo Pulltype rubber roller, Blackwell pull type nine-wheel roller and a John Deere grader (DW770BH).

Right-of-way access permits for county road pipeliine crossings as follow received approval:

• K&J Construction – 12-inch water lines, one located five miles east of Hennessey, District 2, and the second located nine miles east and two miles south of Dover on the Dover-Crescent Highway, District 1.

• MarkWest Oklahoma Gas – two 12-inch gas lines located two miles west and one mile south of Loyal, District 3.
