County commission approves upgrade to emergency alert system at courthouse
Extra security measures are continuing to be addressed at the county level.
Kingfisher County commissioners on Monday accepted a proposal for the installation of a WAVE Plus security alert system to be installed at the courthouse building.
The instant- alert, push-button system will replace the current outdated system.
“It’s one that probably needed updated about five years ago,” said Ralph Price of SecureTech Systems, the company that installed the county’s current system and proposed the new one.
Price said when an employee pushes the alert button, police authorities are instantly alerted.
Simultaneously, an email and text alert will go out to other county employees, both inside and outside the building.
“Having the ability to get messages out across the entire courthouse is very beneficial and something we need to take advantage of,” said Heath Dobrovolny, commission chairman.
Total cost to have the system installed - as well as training - is $19,760.
Dobrovolny and Ray Shimanek voted in favor of the system as did Dennis Holmes.
Holmes, the first deputy for District 1, again sat in place of Jeff Moss, who is recuperating from a recent surgery.
An appraisal report and review recently completed for the replacement of the Robberts Street bridge project was approved.
The report specified $29,355 for damages be offered to the owners of the property on the north side of Robberts on each side of Uncle John Creek.
Also approved by commissioners were reimbursement forms for the district attorney and election board offices as well as an invoice of $4,200 from Pinnacle Consulting Management for a right-of-way acquisition.
Eight rights of ways were approved for multiple lines in the county:
• Two were 12-inch lay flat water lines for Ovintiv, both two miles north and two east of Okarche in District 1;
• A 12-inch lay flat line for Ovintiv three miles east of Okarche in District 1;
• Another 12-inch lay flat water line in District 1 for Ovintiv, one mile north and two east of Okarche;
• In District 2, a 12-inch poly temporary water line nine miles east of Dover for BCE-Mach III;
• A three-inch poly line in District 2 for K&J Construction, six miles east of Dover;
• Two 12-inch lay flat lines in District 2 for K&J Construction, one of them six miles east of Dover and the other two miles north and 10 east of Dover.
