County commission works through brief agenda
Kingfisher County commissioners approved payment of $1,939.60 to Circuit Engineering District 8 for four county bridge inspections and a change order for a District 2 road paving contract.
The contract was with Ellsworth Construction Co., doing business as A-Tech Paving of Oklahoma City, for road work done last year.
The move was made during by commissioners at their weekly meeting last Monday.
The change order for work done on NS 2890 and EW 590 District 2 roads, termed a release of retainage, and accepting the project as fully complete, provided a $73,908.89 reduction in the price of the work, reducing the total project cost to $1,920,793.38.
In making the motion to accept the change order, Shimanek said the reduction involved failure to meet the contractual completion deadline on the project.
In other action, commissioners approved removing Emily Hau as receiving officer and leaving Hailey Countryman as receiving officer in the office of Court Clerk Lisa Markus, accepting the monthly reports of the offices of sheriff, treasurer, county clerk, assessor, court clerk, election board, health department and court clerk preservation fund for the month of May, and monthly appropriations for offices for the month of May.
County Clerk Jeannie Boevers reported that the county excise-equalization board would be meeting Wednesday (June 12) at the courthouse when Kingfisher Superintendent of Schools David Glover had an appointment to discuss a method to make a payment on the $3.75 million balance of a $5 million settlement awarded to former Kingfisher High School stu- dent Mason Mecklenburg against the school district in a civil suit.
All three commissioners attended – District 1 Commissioner Jeff Moss; Shimanek, District 2, and District 3 Commissioner Anthony Schwarz – along with County Engineer Nik Smith, county budget maker Nick Storm of the firm of Storm and Hauser, CPAs, and Boevers as minute clerk.
