County commissioners discuss bridge work at weekly meeting
Bridge decisions comprised much of the business meeting of Kingfisher County commissioners Monday.
Commissioners approved payments totaling $17,319.36 and $509.68 for right-of-way payments on parcels near bridges on the Dover-Crescent Road plus a utility affidavit on a section undergoing repaving in District 2 (D-C Road), and a payment of $140 for a right-of-way parcel at the Robberts Street Bridge at the east edge of Kingfisher, which is scheduled for replacement beginning in September.
Commissioners awarded a contract to Schwarz Paving Co. of Oklahoma City, which submitted the low bid of $5,289,731.61 at the preceding week’s meeting to perform work on two tracts in District 1 – NS 292 and EW 89 – and two tracts in District 3 – NS 270 and EW 89.
Also approved was an agreement with the City of Kingfisher to continue using the County 911 Emergency Dispatching Services for the 2024-25 fiscal year with monthly payments of $7,934.75.
In other action, commissioners approved the following:
• Sheriff’s Office Funding Grant from the state Attorney General’s office of $300,000 to be used for equipment and training;
• $500 for burial or cremation for Reza Salahi through Gritz Funeral Home of Hennessey, from the county charity account; • Requesting and receiving officials for all accounts for the current fiscal year.
• Disposal (junking) of two surplus items at the county health department – a double desk and exam table; • Transfer of funds for three departments – $57.23 from sheriff service fee to sheriff forfeiture account, $2.33 from law library to court clerk preservation account and $22,704.56 from Emergency Management Grant to Emergency Management Grant cash account, correcting bookkeeping errors;
• Election board and district attorney office state reimbursement accounts;
• Pipeline crossing of county road in District 1 for Howard Drilling Enterprises located four miles north and two miles east of Kingfisher;
• Pipeline crossing for Quail Run Land Co. in District 2, located one mile south and one mile west of Hennessey, and,
• Notice of authority to proceed for Schwarz Paving on county paving projects.
