County commissioners make quick work of weekly agenda

By

Kingfisher County commissioners took care of a short agenda in a 15-minute meeting Monday.

They approved a resolution disposing of old office equipment in the county assessor’s office, a performance bond for remodeling the Hennessey Fire Department, two permits for county road pipeline crossings, a lease agreement for the Office of Juvenile Affairs and a change in the requisitioning officer for the Omega Fire Department.

They also discussed a public meeting scheduled to discuss the effects of President Joe Biden’s 30 by 30 Initiative on residents living within the boundaries of the Old Chisholm Trail. (See accompanying article on Page 1.)

Commissioners approved of disposing of eight items in the county assessor’s office including a computer, copier, software, storage files and mapping equipment which is no longer needed.

The performance bond provided by the contractor, Henson Construction Co. of Enid, marks the final county action necessary before work begins on the project. A pre-construction conference was scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday at the fire department.

County commissioners approved a contract with the Oklahoma Office of Juvenile Affairs at 101 South Main, Office No. 5, (the courthouse) in Kingfisher with pro-rated rent for the month of March of $65.64 after which the monthly rental fee will be $169.79.

The office is moving from its former location because of storm damage, the agreement with the state Office of Management and Enterprise Services states.

Right-of-way permits for county road pipeline crossings were approved for Districts 2 and 3 as follow:

• K&J Construction – three-inch temporary water line located eight miles east and two miles south of Dover, District 2.

• Marathon Oil Co. – four-inch temporary water line located two miles east and three miles south of Omega, District 3.

The COVID report showed no active cases in the county as of Monday.

Commissioners approved a change in the Omega Fire Department requisitioning officer from Kris Eaton to B.J. Waeger.

Present for the meeting in addition to Commissioners Dobrovolny, District 3, Ray Alan Shimanek, District 2, and Jeff Moss, District 1, were County Engineer Nik Smith, 9-1-1 Emergency Calling Director Ryan Deatherage and County Clerk Jeannie Boevers, official minute clerk.
