County COVID-19 cases up by five this week

COVID cases increased by five in Kingfisher County last week.

The COVID report on the county commission agenda Monday totaled 25, up from 19 last week. Kingfisher had 14 cases this week and Hennessey 11.

Last week’s report by community included Kingfisher nine and Okarche and Hennessey with five each.

Commissioners approved a notice to proceed for work on the county health department. The work, which was bid earlier, calls for a drive-through and storage buildings at the new health department site on West Bowman Avenue.

County Commission Chairman Heath Dobrovolny said renovation work at the new site is continuing.

In other action, commissioners approved monthly reports for the offices of treasurer, county clerk, election board, assessor, court clerk and health department, payment of dues of $894 for the County Officers and Deputies Association and $4,500 to Association of County Commissioners of Oklahoma (ACCO), a $2,400 annual contract with the U.S. Department of Agriculture for services of the federal trapper, the resale property fund statement showing $433,740.48 total reserves, the monthly state reimbursement form for the offices of election board and district attorney, monthly appropriations for county offices for June and three county road right-of-way pipeline permits for BCE Mach III Midstream Holdings in District 2.

District 2 County Commissioner Ray Shimanek said the permits include one for a 12-inch poly line located eight miles east of Dover and two for a location one mile north and seven miles east of Dover, one a 12-inch poly line and the other a 10-inch poly line.

It was announced that the court clerk’s office would be closed Thursday so that office staff can take part in training.

Additional activities for commissioners include a Circuit Engineering Dis trict 8 board meeting next Wednesday, a jail board meeting for all three commissioners (Dobrovolny, Shimanek and District 1 Commissioner Jeff Moss) at 10 a.m. Monday and a tax roll corrections meeting Wednesday.

Present at Monday’s meeting were all three commissioners, County Clerk Jeannie Boevers, minute clerk, County Engineer Nik Smith, District 1 First Deputy Dennis Holmes and guests Jeff Calender of Kubota Equipment and Joe Bohnstedt of Hennessey, a new District 2 employee.
