Kingfisher County has experienced 56 COVID-19 deaths since the pandemic began but has only 19 active cases at present, Kingfisher County commissioners learned.

The information from the state health department, which resumed providing data by city and town, appeared on the county commission agenda Monday for the commission’s weekly meeting.

Commissioners announced the courthouse will be closed Thursday and Friday for the Thanksgiving holiday.

District 3 Commissioner Heath Dobrovolny, board chairman, said numerous details are being studied regarding the health department move and that tabling action would require commissioners to act on the item at next week’s meeting when they might not have sufficient information to do.

Commissioners approved the following action items:

• The low bid of $92,780 for steel and bridge materials from Sunbelt Equipment and Supply of Meeker. A second bid of $96,334.18 was received from Railroad Yard of Stillwater. Commission Chairman Heath Dobrovolny said the steel will be used on a bridge west of Loyal.

• A resolution disposing of two old backhoe buckets and a transfer tanker for District 3.

• A resolution disposing of a Savin copier in the county clerk’s office.

• A resolution authorizing disposal of a surplus computer in the county engineer’s office.

• A resolution accepting a donation from Brian Best for 9,900 yards of shale to be used in District 1.

• Approval of a road crossing permit for OG&E on EWS 720 Road immediately west of Loyal.

• Five road crossing permits for Ovintiv five in District 1 located five miles south and three miles east of Kingfisher and six miles south and one located six miles south and one mile west of Kingfisher and one in District 3 three miles south and two miles west of Kingfisher. All were for 12-inch lay flat lines.

• A road crossing permit for Recoil Oilfield Services for a three-inch water line located nine miles east and one mile north of the intersection of U.S 81 and Dover-Crescent Road in District 1.

Commissioners were to attend a 911 Emergency Calling board meeting Monday following the commission meeting, also.

County Clerk Jeannie Boevers served as recording clerk for the meeting.

County Engineer Nik Smith attended the meeting along with Banther.
