COVID cases rose by 10 in the county last week, reaching a total of 30 active cases, according to records provided to county commissioners Monday.

By community the totals were reported as:

Cashion – three, up two.

Dover– zero, same.

Hennessey – seven, down one.

Kingfisher – 17, up six.

Loyal – zero, same.

Okarche – three, up two.

Omega – zero, same.

County cases since the pandemic began total 2,742 with 2,657 recovered.

Commissioners added Juneteenth to the list of county holidays, following federal policy. It raises the number of holidays to 11.

Commissioners were prepared to approve a list of improvements for the Hennessey Fire Department from American Recovery Plan Act (ARPA) funds but tabled action at the request of the department. The items will be considered at a later date.

Action items approved included:

• Monthly reports for the county clerk, court clerk, sheriff, treasurer, assessor, election board, health department and court clerk preservation fund.

• State reimbursements for the election board and district attorney offices.

• Removing the name of the late County Assessor Carolyn Mulherin as requesting officer for the county assessor’s office and adding Carrie Turner.

• Removing Carrie Turner as receiving officer for the county clerk’s office and naming Julie Nault in her place. Turner has been appointed county assessor.

• A pipeline permit for K&J Construction for a four-inch water line three miles north of Kingfisher, District 1.

• A service access drive for Chad Bragg, including a 36-inch culvert, at the intersection of Robberts Avenue and N2855 Road, District 1.

• A rescheduled Division CIRB project list for the county, moving one project forward and one – a Turkey Creek project in District 2 – back. District 2 Commissioner Ray Alan Shimanek approved the change.

• A bid notice for day cab water trucks for all three districts.

District 1 Commissioner and Vice Chairman Jeff Moss presided in the absence of Heath Dobrovolny, District 3 commissioner and board chairman.

Several surplus items in District 1 received approval although Moss said they had been approved earlier. A loss of the earlier document was explained as the reason for the agenda item and the action was necessary to clean up the district equipment list.

Also attending the meeting were Deputy County Clerk Emily Lee as minute clerk and County Engineer Nik Smith.
