County January sales tax up for four towns

By

January sales tax checks were bigger for four county towns – Cashion, Dover, Loyal and Okarche.

The January 9, 2023 distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commission primarily represents local tax receipts from November business. Companies that remit more than $2,500 monthly in sales tax receipts are required to file and pay electronically. The monies they reported this period represent sales from November 16 to 30 and estimated sales from December 1 to 15.

The disbursement of $199,129,968 in sales tax collections returned to the cities and towns reflected an increase of $6,000,730 from the $193,129,239 distributed to the cities and towns in January last year. The use tax disbursement to cities and towns was $38,095,644.

In county returns, the counties shared in a $33,927,219 sales tax disbursement and a $7,219,253 use tax disbursement.

Use tax checks for county entities were mostly higher.

Use tax is collected at the same rate as an entity’s sales tax on purchases made out of county for delivery within the county.
