County OHCE members attend NW district meeting

By
Pansy Wheeler

“Soaring to New Heights with OHCE” was the theme of the district meeting of the Northwest Oklahoma Home & Community Education groups.

Thirteen members from Kingfisher County attended the meeting held March 22 at Watonga High School.

Kingfisher County members were responsible for assisting in decorating and registering the 143 members that came from all over the northwest portion of the state.

Besides the official business of the district, workshops were held for many various interests, including “Telling Your Life Story,” “Making Focaccia Bread,” “History of Cheese,” “How Walkable is Your Community?,” “Working with Food Pantries” and “Jazzercize.”

During the meeting, two Kingfisher County members were recognized for their work.

Dot Miller, who is the current Kingfisher County president, was recognized with the Heart of OHCE Award and Maxine Helgeson was the Member of the Year winner for 2024.

They are both part of the Hennessey Farmerettes group.
