Kingfisher County commissioners approved a solicitation for bids for steel bridge materials for District 3 at their Monday meeting.

“Prices have increased so much since we received sixmonth bids (for materials) that no one will honor them,” Heath Dobrovolny, board chairman and District 3 commissioner, said.

Deadline for submission of sealed bids is 4 p.m. Nov. 19, with bids to be opened at the regular weekly commission meeting Nov. 22.

Commissioners also approved payment of $3,649.50 to CED & Consultant for routine inspection of 15 bridges located in all three districts.

“We dodged a bullet because none of the districts have bridges that need major repairs,” Dist. 2 Commissioner Ray Shimanek said.

Commissioners approved two 90-day waterline rights-of-way for Ovintiv:

•District 3 – A three-inch poly line starting in the southwest quarter of section 7-17-9 and ending in the northeast quarter of section 18-17-9, five miles west and one south of Loyal.

•District 1 – A 12-inch layflat line starting in the southeast quarter of section 26-15-7 and ending in the northwest quarter of section 6-14-6, four miles east and one north of Okarche and extending into Canadian County.

Commissioners also approved a road right of way for Oklahoma Gas & Electric in District 3 for a permanent electric line starting in the southeast corner of the southeast quarter of section 9-17-9 and ending in the northeast corner of the northwest quarter of section 17-7-9, four miles west and one south of Loyal.

In other business, commissioners declared as surplus a pneumatic post driver used by District 1 and approved the Emergency Management Performance Grant for the fourth quarter.

In addition to Dobrovolny and Shimanek, Dist. 1 Commissioner Jeff Moss, Kingfisher County Sheriff Dennis Banther and City-County Emergency Management Director Steve Loftis were present at the meeting.
