Kingfisher County paid just over $20,000 to have a portion of its bridges inspected this quarter.

Commissioners at their weekly meeting Monday approved an invoice totaling $20,600 for this round of inspections on 81 bridges.

“That includes bridges in all three districts,” said Donnie Head of Circuit Engineering District No. 8, who attended the meeting.

“And there were only minor repairs to report.”

The bridges were inspect ed from May 24 through July 26, according to the approved invoice.

Inspections are performed quarterly in order to cover the county’s nearly 250 bridges.

This quarter’s round of inspections is generally the largest.

An average of 1.2 hours were spent on each bridge during this round, which resulted in an average cost of $254.32 per bridge.

Also during the 12-minute meeting, commissioners approved a detention transportation contract between the county and the Oklahoma Office of Juvenile Affairs.

The contract runs through June 30, 2022.

Also approved were a pair of access drives for Pintail Oilfield Services LLC on County Road N2740, onehalf mile south of County Road 870.

Multiple road crossing permits crossings were approved:

• Two were in District 1 for three-inch fresh water lines, one of which starts 10 miles east and two south of the U.S. Highway 81 and Dover-Crescent Road intersection and the other begins eight miles east and two south. Both are for Recoil Oilfield;

• Another was for Mark-West Energy. The four-inch steel line is two miles west of Kingfisher in District 3;

• The other was a fourinch poly and 12-inch lay flat line in District 2 one mile north and one east of Dover for K&J Construction LLC.
