County OKs correction in 6-month poly pipe bid

By

Kingfisher County commissioners approved a correction to the six-month bid list for poly culvert pipes Monday at their regular weekly meeting.

Commission Chairman Heath Dobrovolny said the only bidder on the item had reneged on his bid for the product, explaining that the only bidder on the item had been looking at 2019 prices when he prepared his bid and could not deliver at the prices quoted.

In response to a question, Dobrovolny said the county is having trouble receiving many of the items it needs, including equipment repair parts, due at least in part to Covid shutdowns and related problems.

Commissioners also approved pay documentation for recently-appointed County Assessor Carrie Turner, who formerly worked in the county clerk’s office.

Commissioners approved changes in requesting and receiving officers for two county offices.

Todd Davis was named requisition officer for the sheriff’s department, replacing Mike Shults. Sheriff Dennis Banther said the change involved shift changes.

Also, Stacy Maroney and Maggie Jackson were named requisition officers for the health department.

Covid cases continued to climb in the county, increasing by 98 during the past week, according to updates by the Oklahoma Health Department.

That report showed a total of 438 active cases in the county with the following numbers by community:

Cashion – 56, down two. Dover – 24, up two.

Dover – 24, up two.

Hennessey – 103, up 33.

Kingfisher – 180, up 49. Okarche – 66, up 20. Omega – no cases, down five.

District 1 Commissioner Jeff Moss reported that concrete was being poured Monday on the Bowman Street bridge, east of Kingfisher. He reported traffic would have to be detoured around the bridge for 28 days to allow proper cure of the concrete. He said an employee would be on duty at the bridge Monday night to keep a fire burning under the bridge in order to protect the new concrete.

Commissioners ap proved a $16,000 invoice from Pinnacle Construction for bridge work at a location east of Okarche, one-half mile north of Waterloo Road.

Road crossing permits were approved for the following:

• Markwest Energy Operating Co – four-inch steel gas line located two miles south and four miles west of Loyal, District 3.

• Limitless Land Services – three-inch temporary water line three miles south and four miles west of Cashion, District 1.
