County opens 6 bids on HFD remodel project

Kingfisher County commissioners opened six bids on the Hennessey Fire Department remodeling project at their weekly meeting Tuesday.

On motion of District 2 Commissioner Ray Alan Shimanek, the commission tabled action until next week’s meeting to allow Hennessey Fire Department staff to review the bids.

The matter will be on next week’s agenda for official action.

James Matousek and Brandon Scott represented the Hennessey Fire Department at the meeting.

The bidders submitted bids for the basic construction work plus a fee for required testing and three options.

The options include Alternate No. 1 – a metal wall; Alternate No. 2 – concrete floor, and Alternate No. 3 – brick veneer.

Bidders and their bids follow:

• Rick Scott Construction –$2,223,554 with $23,412 testing allowance; Alternate 1, $24,412; Alternate 2, $33,718; Alternate 3, $50,645. Scott asked for 300 days to complete the job.

• Shiloh Enterprises – $1,960,000 with $18,338 inspection fee allowance; Alternate 1, $45,000; Alternate 2, $6,500; Alternate 3, $44,000. Shiloh requested 265 calendar days.

• Warcon – $2,418,525 with $5,000 inspection allowance; Alternate 1, $30,534; Alternate 2, $6,250; Alternate 3, $54,312. Warcon requested 318 calendar days for construction.

• W.L. McNatt – $1,954,000 with $19,540 inspection allowance; Alternate 1, $122,300; Alternate 2, $1,700, and Alternate 3, $45,000. McNatt requested 300 days for construction.

• Henson Construction – $1,862,000 with $3,620 inspection allowance; Alternate 1, $42,000, Alternate 2, $13,000; Alternate 3, $51,000. Henson requested 365 calendar days.

• Firebrand Construction – $2,177,000 with $9,500 inspection allowance; Alternate 1, $47,771; Alternate 2, $14,531; Alternate 3, $66,842. Firebrand requested 255 calendar days.

Calm Construction – $2,016,000 with $19,730 inspection allowance; Alternate 1, $40,000; Alternate 2, $10,500; Alternate 3, $66,777. Calm requested 350 construction days.

Construction on the project is expected to start about May 1. The fire station will be in operation throughout the construction process, Matousek, assistant fire chief, said.

Commissioners declared two John Deere tractors in each commissioner district as surplus so that they may be traded in and removed from the county property rolls.

An agreement to provide emergency 911 calling service to Hennessey at a monthly fee of $41,000 received approval.

State reimbursement for phone service and travel expense was approved for the Election Board and district attorney’s offices as was a county road rightof- way permit for a Bison Water Midstream water line located one mile north of Okarche.

Those present for the meeting in addition to County Commissioners Jeff Moss, District 1; Ray Alan Shimanek, District 2, and Heath Dobrovolny, District 3, chairman, included Scott and Matousek of the Hennessey Fire Department; Deputy County Clerk Emily Lee, minute clerk; Ryan Deatherage, deputy director of the Kingfi sher City-County Emergency Management office; Walker Henson, Dave Gilbert and Bryan Huckabay, representing the bidding companies, and Gang Lee of AIT Architects, architect for the Hennessey Fire Department.
