Deputy State Historic Preservation Officer Lynda Ozan announced that three Oklahoma Centennial Farm awards have been presented to the owners of three Kingfisher County farms.

Michael Harris owns Harris Farm located in the vicinity of Hennessey.

The family has grown hay and raised cattle and horses since great-grandfather William Harris settled the land in 1899.

Donald and Cheryl Snethen; Gary and Theola Edsall; and Freddie and Susan Duffy own The South Place located in the vicinity of Jet.

The family has grown wheat and provided a wildlife habitat since great-grandfather Joseph Yost settled the land in 1892.

Randy Duffy and Mrs. Ronna Yost own the Stebens Ladwig Duffy Farm located in the vicinity of Loyal.

The family has grown wheat since great-grandparents Fred and Mary Stebens settled the land in 1922.

To qualify for a Centennial Farm or Ranch Award, a property must be occupied by a family member for at least 100 years and currently be operated or occupied by a family member or leased out by a family member.

The property must include a minimum of 40 acres and gross annual sales of at least $1,000.

The Oklahoma Historical Society and the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry have sponsored the Centennial Farm & Ranch Awards for 34 years, in which time 177 awards have been given in Kingfisher County.
