County receives more moisture
Crop boosting rains fell across Kingfisher County and much of Oklahoma last week.
Besides putting a greener hue to local small grain fields, the rain awakened early season grasses in pastures and lawns as the county erupted into full springtime beauty.
Many trees have new leaves and spring flowers are displaying their colors in local yards.
Total rainfall locally was in the 1.4 to 1.5 inch range with a few spots receiving heavier amounts.
Local Weather Observer Steve Loftis recorded a total of 1.44 inches at the National Weather Service Station in Kingfisher and the Mesonet site at the Mueggenborg farm immediately west of Kingfisher showed 1.42 inches.
Showers measuring .35 inch at 7 a.m. Saturday and .58 inch Sunday morning in Kingfisher provided additional helpful moisture as wheat fields, especially later planted fields, showed signs of rapid growth after the welcome rains.
Reports from across the county included the following: Cashion – 1.25 inches at the Cashion Grain and Feed Elevator.
Dover – 1.4 inches at the Rick and Robin Johnston residence, northwest of Dover.
Kingfisher – 1.3 inches at the Twila Adams residence, five miles east of town and 1.7 inches at the Mike and Donna Reid residence four miles southwest of Kingfisher.
Loyal – 1.5 inches at the Jon Cochran residence.
Okarche – 1.36 inches at the Dave Krittenbrink residence and 1.25 inches at the Okarche Grain and Feed Elevator, eight miles west of Okarche.
