County, state braces for potential snowstorm
The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning for Kingfi sher County and most of the state beginning Tuesday and continuing into 6 a.m. Wednesday.
The forecast called for accumulations of four to seven inches in some locales with isolated heavier amounts.
The forecast affected some events locally.
As of press time, Kingfi sher High School’s home basketball games on Tuesday had been postponed until Feb. 13.
Portions of central, east central, southeast, southern, southwest and western Oklahoma and northern Texas were included in the forecast area.
The possibility of hazardous travel conditions were predicted, including in the morning an evening commutes.
Local Weather Observer Steve Loftis reported .1 inch of moisture at 7 a.m. Tuesday.
The local Mesonet site on the Mueggenborg farm immediately west of Kingfi sher showed a total of .23 inch of moisture about 10 a.m. Tuesday.
While local residents traveling north Tuesday morning reported heavy snow showers in the Waukomis- Enid area early Tuesday morning, Kingfi sher continued to receive a mixture of light rain and snow.
