County tables wind project agreement

Commissioners expect to move on it next week after changes added

By

Kingfisher County commissioners tabled action on the Wagon Wheel Wind Project in north Kingfisher County for a second time at their meeting Monday.

District 2 Commissioner Ray Alan Shimanek, who made the motion to table, said changes in the use agreement on county roads would be on next week’s agenda for final action after changes he requested were included in the agreement as worked out between Tanner Yost, project manager with Kirkham Michael, consulting engineers for the project, and County Engineer Nik Smith.

Lisa Powell, representative of Invenergy, the parent company of the Wagon Wheel project, also was present and took part in the discussion.

Among topics discussed were dust control, road cover and maintenance and routes for construction traffic.

Commissioners approved Sheriff Dennis Banther’s appointment of Jonathan Riedlinger as undersheriff, succeeding Barry Reilly, who has retired after a 41-year career with the sheriff’s department. Riedlinger also was approved as the requisition officer for the sheriff’s office. Banther, who will retire at the end of his current term in January, did not file for re-election.

Commissioners also approved the disposal of equipment for the county clerk, assessor and sheriff departments, which were declared surplus at the preceding week’s meeting, designation of the Pinnacle Consulting Management Group to use the Oklahoma Department of Transportation’s procurement process as service provider for a bridge over Porcupine Creek on NS 2740 Road (Calumet Road) between EW 820 and 830 Roads in District 3, a claim of $63.69 to the state for juvenile detention transportation and two right-of-way requests for Glenn Energy Services for two steel four-inch pipeline crossings both located four miles south of Loyal.

District 3 temporary commissioner Anthony Schwarz attended his first meeting after being appointed to serve in the place of former Commissioner Heath Dobrovolny, who resigned to take a position in the state of New Mexico, effective last Friday. A special election to fill the balance of Dobrovolny’s term has been called for Aug. 27 by Gov. Kevin Stitt.

Commission Chairman Jeff Moss and Vice Chairman Shimanek, Deputy County Clerk-County Clerk Designate Emily Lee, who served as minute clerk, Banther and Big Four Fire Chief Joey Maschino were present for the meeting in addition to participants listed earlier. Lee was unopposed in filing for the county clerk’s position, succeeding Jeannie Boevers, who is retiring at the end of her current term, also in January.
