County wreck results in injury
Two semi-trucks and a pickup-truck were involved in an accident Wednesday that resulted in one injury.
The accident occurred just 70 feet west of the intersection of Banner Road and County Road E680, which is three miles south and four miles east of Hennessey.
According to a report from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Doug Eugene Gholson, 62, of Kingfisher, was eastbound at the stop sign of the intersection in a 2004 Ford F350.
Gary Gene Higgins, 47, Ponca City, was driving a 2007 Freightliner east on the county road while Kent Douglas Dobbins, 34, Ponca City, was following in a 2009 Peterbilt.
The report said Dobbins was following Higgins too closely when Higgins began to slow for the stop sign.
Dobbins’ truck struck Higgins’ truck, which then caused Higgins’ truck to strike Gholson’s pickup.
Neither Gholson nor Dobbins reported any injuries.
Higgins was pinned in his truck for approximately 15-20 minutes after the accident occurred at 1:13 p.m.
He was freed by members of the Dover Fire Department and flown to OU Medical Center by helicopter.
Higgins was admitted in stable condition with a head injury, the report said.
Also at the scene along with OHP, Dover FD and Air Evac were the Kingfisher County Sheriff’s Office and Life EMS.
