Courthouse to receive electrical upgrades

Kingfisher County commissioners approved a contract with RPC Operations of Kingfisher Monday to update the courthouse electrical system.

RPC submitted the sole bid on the project of $383,615.

Asked why the power upgrade was needed, County Engineer Nik Smith cited continually increasing power needs for courthouse equipment, including the heating-cooling system.

Commissioners appointed Emily Lee, deputy county clerk and county clerk-elect, to represent the county on the Oklahoma Employees Health and Welfare Plan, the county’s health insur- ance provider, board of directors.

Lee will take office on Jan. 2, succeeding Jeannie Boevers, who is retiring and did not seek re-election.

Change orders for work on the District 1 shop, north of Kingfisher, were approved as follow: 1. Remove all existing insulation, approximately 600 square feet, $1,628; 2. Seal all existing holes in sheet metal of existing shop to prevent water damage, $935; 3. Remove existing windows in what will be conference room, add sealing on exterior and silicone around windows on interior and exterior once they are installed, $687.50; 4. Extend the north and south walls nine inches to allow for the door and window to be moved, also allowing the plumbing to be relocated as the ice-maker and cabinet changed locations, and additional labor and materials, $11,454; and 5. Relabeling of the panels, $3,520.

Commissioners approved disposing of surplus equipment for the county clerk’s office, a 2020 HP Z2G4 Tower, and for the sheriff’s office, a Crosley freezer, along with the following actions:

• Monthly reports for the offices of sheriff, county clerk, treasurer, assessor, court clerk, election board, health department and court clerk preservation;

• Reimbursement forms to the state for the offices of election board and district attorney;

• Right-of-way permit for Ovintiv for three 12-inch pipeline road crossings in the same vicinity five miles east and three miles north of Okarche, District 1;

• Right-of-way permit for Recoil Oilfield Services (12-inch pipeline location) at a site two miles south and one mile west of Cashion, District 1;

• Access Drive for Wayne and Casey Darce located about one-half mile south of the intersection of County Roads N2910 and E770, and,

•Transfers for the month of November.

Present for the meeting were all commissioners – Jeff Moss District 1, chairman; Ray Alan Shimanek, District 2, vice chairman, and Anthony Schwarz, District 3 –County Clerk Boevers as minute clerk; County Engineer Smith; Mike Sparks, District 2 Commissioner-elect; John Perkins, representative of Warren Caterpillar, Joe Mandrino of PEC and Kelly Buck of Kingfisher.
