Craig speaks at October Altrua Club meet
The Altrua Club met Oct. 20 at the Chisholm Trail Museum.
President Jowanna Sisk conducted the meeting and Dana Golbek served as hostess.
Members present were Martha Burditt, Golbek, Jneanne Kadavy, Jeanette Kloeppel, Terri Peck, Sisk, Julie Storm and Cheryl Wheelbarger.
Golbek introduced the speaker, Dr. Daniel Craig, the superintendent of Kingfisher Public Schools.
Dr. Craig shared some of his memories of growing up in Kingfisher. He shared stories with several of the members who he had known from the community or school.
He told the group about his family and his professional career in education.
Dr. Craig said even though he’d been at the state Department of Education the past 20 years, he was ready to get back into public education when the superintendent’s position here in Kingfisher opened up.
He said he is excited about being back in public education and excited to be back home as well.
The club decided to wait until the November meeting to give its donation to the museum since Jason Harris, museum director, was not available.
The next meeting will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17, at the museum.
Burditt will be the hostess and Wheelbarger the program leader.
