December rain arrives – finally

By

December waited until right to the end to deposit any rain on Kingfisher.

Local Weather Observer Steve Loftis reported .15 inch of moisture from a shower at 7 a.m. Tuesday, the first measurable rainfall in December.

The Mesonet station west of Kingfisher on the Mueggenborg farm registered only .12 inch.

Kingfisher Times & Free Press staff member Twila Adams recorded half an inch at her residence east of Kingfisher.

However, area small grain fields have continued to grow, possibly thanks to a number of heavy dews during the month.

The shower and cooler temperatures followed an unseasonably balmy 80 degree reading on Christmas Day.
