December sales tax checks were higher for four county towns and Kingfisher County, according to the report from the Oklahoma Tax Commission, which collects and distributes sales tax for the state and cities and counties.

Kingfisher, Hennessey, Dover and Okarche all recived larger checks this December than last with Dover showing the largest percentage of gain – 277.5%. The December 2022 distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commission primarily represents local tax receipts from October business. Companies that remit more than $2,500 monthly in sales tax receipts are required to file and pay electronically. The monies they reported this period represent sales from Oct. 16 to 31 and estimated sales from Nov. 1 to the 15.

The disbursement of $197,459,402 in sales tax collections returned to the cities and towns reflected an increase of $16,092,428 from the $181,366,974 distributed to the cities and towns in December last year.

The use tax disbursement to cities and towns was $33,388,537.

In county returns, the counties shared in a $33,884,159 sales tax disbursement and a $6,205,846 use tax disbursement.
