Donation from Williams, assist from Ace help KFD purchase 100 smoke detectors to distribute to citizens
With the help of two businesses, the Kingfisher Fire Department now has 100 new smoke detectors to give to citizens.
Williams, an energy company with a local footprint, recently donated $500 to the fire department to purchase smoke detectors.
Kingfisher Ace Hardware helped stretch that $500 into purchasing 100 new detectors.
“We wanted to make sure that our fire department had the essential supplies necessary to support and educate our community,” said Jay Steuart, Kingfisher Ace Hardware owner/manager.
“We were able to expand on Williams’ generous donation and provide the KFD with 100 smoke detectors.”
Kingfisher Fire Chief Ryan Gibson said the two companies will benefit many Kingfisher families.
“Smoke detectors save lives and without the help from these two businesses, this would not be possible,” said Gibson. “We want to thank them for being willing to help those in need.”
Gibson said those who are interested in getting a smoke detector can call the fire department at 405375-4070.
He added one more piece of advice.
“And don’t forget to check your smoke detectors monthly and to change the batteries twice a year when you change your clocks,” he said.
