The 2022-2023 school year has been very eventful for the Dover FFA chapter.

It started this fall with 10 students traveling to Indianapolis, Ind., to attend the National FFA Convention.

The chapter also has been busy with CDEs.

From meat judging to public speaking, the Dover FFA chapter has been keeping busy with contests.

Karlee Harviston, Pedro Valles, Gabby Cervantes and Alyah Bowers all competed in the AFR District Speech Contest.

Valles and Karlee Harviston qualified for the state AFR where they both placed third in their respective divisions.

Also last fall, Dover FFA competed at the OPSU Interscholastics.

In the meats contest, the team placed first. Team members were Damion Turner, Alec Schilde, Colton Burns and Evelyn Chavez.

Turner was the first place individual, winning a $1,000 scholarship and Evelyn Chavez placed second and won a $500 scholarship.

The agronomy team also placed first. Team members were Cervantes, Alyah Bowers, Valles and Fatima Aboite.

They all placed as high individuals at NOC Interscholastics.

Chapter members Valles, Colton Burns, R.J. Harrison and Nathan Cohee exhibited their goats and sheep at the Tulsa State Fair.

Burns exhibited the champion white face crossbred market lamb.

Alec Schilde competed in the ag tech contest where he placed first.

Recently the chapter officers spoke on KOFM’s radio station to celebrate National FFA Week.

They have even been volunteering their time to their community by reading to children, hosting a food drive and holding a vape education assembly for the younger kids.

Recently, members held their annual labor auction, where the FFA members were auctioned off to help people in their community.

Their upcoming plans involve showing livestock at the county, district and state shows, hosting activities for National FFA Week, alumni dinner, selling Blue and Gold nd continuing to prepare for upcoming speeches and CDE competitions.
