Dover, Loyal see bigger sales tax checks for July

July sales tax collections were lower for all county towns, except Dover and Loyal, according to the monthly report from the Oklahoma Tax Commission.
Dover’s check was up a whopping 598.7% – $125,562.33 this July compared to $17,972.94 in July 2023.
Loyal’s check was up a similar amount percentage- wise, 735.1% – $12,508.22 this July compared to $1,497.82 a year ago.
The July 2024, distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commission primarily represents local tax receipts from May business. Companies that remit more than $2,500 monthly in sales tax receipts are required to file and pay electronically. The monies they reported this period represent sales from May 16 to the May 31 and estimated sales from June 1 to June 15.
The disbursement of $202,723,134 in sales tax collections returned to the cities and towns reflected a decrease of $479,581 from the $203,202,715, distributed to them in July last year. The use tax disbursement to cities and towns was $35,719,789.
In county returns, the counties shared in $33,539,386 sales tax disbursements and $6,891,138 in use tax disbursements.
Comparison of use tax checks to local entities follow (use tax is collected at the same rate as each entity’s sales tax on purchases made out of state for deliv-ery in state): Kingfisher County – $27,881.40and$41,724.82.
