Dover sweeps M-O; girls ranked atop Class B
Dover is 6-0…and ranked No. 1 in Class B.
One became fact last Friday and the other on Monday afternoon.
The Lady Longhorns stayed perfect on the season with last Friday’s 5720 victory at Mulhall-Orlando.
Then, in the first coaches’ rankings of the season on ossaarankings.com, it was revealed on Monday that the Lady Longhorns are No. 1.
This is the first time Dover has achieved the top spot since ossaarankings. com became the official rankings source in Oklahoma. It’s now in its 11th season.
Last year was the first time Dover even made an appearance in the rankings.
Mulhall-Orlando proved no threat to hand Dover its first loss.
The visitors got out to a 26-3 lead in the first quarter.
The Harvistons - Karlee and Katelyn - combined for 18 of those points.
It was a 39-5 lead by halftime.
Karlee Harviston knocked down 16 points to lead all scorers.
Rylee Buck added 13, including three 3-pointers.
Katelyn Harviston finished with 11.
Shorthanded Longhorns win big
They say defense travels and it did just that last Friday for the Dover Longhorns.
Despite being short-handed, Dover knocked off Mulhall-Orlando 53-20 on the road.
It snapped a two-game win streak for the Panthers, who were held to their lowest point total of the season.
The Panthers made a pair of 3-pointers in the first quarter and were within 12-8 of their visitors.
However, they made just one more trey - and only five total field goals the rest of the game.
Lucas Conrady spurred Dover’s getaway beginning in the second quarter.
The junior scored nine points as the Longhorns outscored M-O 11-2.
It was a 19-7 run in the third quarter as Casen Buck notched 11 points, including a trio of 3-pointers.
Buck led all scorers with 17 points. He had half of Dover’s points in the first quarter as well.
Conrady finished the night with 14.
Brennan Fletcher added six.
Dover was without Nathan Cohee and Luis Valles, both of whom injured ankles in the previous Tuesday’s loss at Waukomis.
Dover’s win evened its record at 3-3.
