Dover sweeps through homecoming night
Aboite, Valles are crowned, Gracemont dismantled in pair of Longhorn routs
Dover made quick work of Gracemont last Friday in the final games before the Thanksgiving break.
The two blowout wins also served as homecoming as Fatima Aboite and Pedro Valles were announced queen and king in a ceremony before the games.
Harvistons lead Lady Longhorns
Juniors Karlee and Katelyn Harviston led the charge in the girls’ 77-27 victory.
The duo combined for 47 points.
Katelyn did much of her work in the first half as she scored 19 points while Dover got out to a 49-11 advantage.
She finished the night with 23.
Karlee led all scorers with 24 points, 16 of which came in the second half.
Dover nailed 10 3-pointers in the game.
Ashley Gamez knocked down four of them to score all 12 of her points.
Katelyn Harviston added three of the treys.
Rylee Buck and Hadlee Bryan added eight apiece for the Lady Longhorns while Aboite scored two.
Gracemont was led by Ersila Gonzalez who scored 17.
Dover moved to 3-2 with the victory.
Gracemont no match for Dover balance
Three Longhorns reached double figures in their 64-33 win.
They were led by Kolten Shaw’s 19 points.
He scored eight in the first quarter as Dover jumped to a 17-9 advantage.
Shaw then added six more in the second as Dover outscored Gracemont 11-0.
The Longhorns heated up from long range after the halftime break.
Damion Turner nailed three of Dover’s five 3-pointers in the quarter as they went on a 24-5 run.
Turner ended his night with 14 points.
Dover also got 11 points from Ashton Caldwell.
Dover is now 3-2 on the season.
The teams return to action next Tuesday when they host Waukomis.
