Early filing sees 1 race develop

By

Only one race has developed as filing began Monday for multiple municipal elections in Kingfisher County.

That race is for town clerk in Okarche.

Incumbent Dana Reese filed a Declaration of Candidacy Monday at the Kingfisher County Election Board.

Also filing for the position was Erin Rother-Stover.

No other positions in Kingfi sher County have races as of press time late Tuesday morning.

That includes Kingfisher where nobody had filed for either of the two city commission seats.

One seat is currently held by Vice Mayor Wendell Prim, who is completing his second four-year term and is ineligible to run again for another year.

The other seat is an unexpired term left open after the resignation of Ryan Deatherage late last year.

Three people had filed for the three open seats on Hennessey’s board of trustees.

Filing a Declaration of Candidacy were Richard Simunek, Frank Patton and Randy Bohnstedt.

Simunek is an incumbent. Other incumbents whose seats are open for election are Mayor Bert Gritz and Vice Mayor Clif Vogt.

Nobody had filed for the town clerk position, which is currently held by Kati Walters, who said she did not plan to run for re-election.

There have also been no filings for three trustee seats in Dover or the two open ward seats on Okarche’s town council.

The filing period ended at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
