Kingfisher’s newest police officer said the community’s support for law enforcement was a main reason he sought a job here.

Officer Jeffrey Robbins is an experienced police officer who worked most recently in Clinton, which he said “had a very negative outlook on police.”

“I was drawn to Kingfisher by how much the community loves its law enforcement (very new to me from my previous place) and how much the police department is involved with the community,” he said.

Robbins also wanted to be closer to his children, Addison, 13, and Parker, 8, who live in El Reno.

A native of El Reno, Robbins said his law enforcement career was inspired by his late father, who worked for the federal prison before becoming an air marshal for the U.S. Marshal Service.

Robbins participated in the El Reno Police Explorer program in high school, where he learned law enforcement fundamentals and earned a life saving award from the City of El Reno and American Red Cross.

After serving in the U.S. Marines immediately after high school, Robbins earned an associate’s degree in criminal justice from Redlands Community College while working for the Minco Police Department.

He followed that with two years working for the Frederick Police Department and then nearly five years at the Clinton Police Department.

Robbins served as a school resource officer for a year of his career at Clinton and also was assigned as a field training officer and then promoted to shift supervisor.

“Other positions I worked were drug interdiction on I-40 and community policing,” he said. “Clinton kept me very busy and put me in some close call situations.”

Robbins said he is enjoying the “bit of a slower pace” in Kingfisher.

“I absolutely love Kingfisher and I look forward to a long and successful career here,” he said.
