The candidate filing period for area school boards and an unexpired Hennessey Town Board seat is scheduled for 8 a.m. Monday to 5 p.m. Wednesday Dec. 6-8, Kingfisher County Election Board Seceretary Shawna Butts said.

Declaration of candidacy forms can be downloaded for all offices from the State Election board website at oklahoma. gov/elections or can be requested in person or via email (kingfisher county@elections.ok.gov) from the county election board office.

School Board

Declarations of candidacy can be filed locally for the following school board seats:

Dover – Office No. 2 (5-year term); Office No. 1 (unexpired 4-year term).

Kingfisher, Hennessey, Okarche, Cashion, Lomega, Okeene, Crescent, Cimarron, Drummond, Covington-Douglas and Piedmont – Office No. 2 in each district (5-year-term).

Chisholm Trail Technology Center – Office No. 3 (5-year term).

Canadian Valley Technology Center – Office No. 4 (5-year term).

If only two candidates file for the same vacant seat, their names will appear on the April 5 general election ballot.

If more than two candidates file for the same seat, a primary election will be held Feb. 8 and any candidate receiving more than 50% of the votes will be declared a winner.

If no primary candidate receives more than 50%, the top two candidates will advance to the general election in April.

Hennessey Town Board

Registered voters living within the Hennessey town limits are eligible to file for office for the unexpired term of town board member Keith Meeks, who resigned several months ago.

The term ends April 2025.

The race will be decided in the Feb. 8 election.

Contests of Candidacy

Contests of candidacy for the Hennessey Town Board seat or any of the school board seats must be filed no later than 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10, at the county election board.

A candidate’s eligibility for office may only be contested by another candidate who has filed for the same office.
