Elks DAP Winners
One of the biggest initiatives of the Elks is its Drug Awareness Program (DAP). The largest volunteer program of its kind in the United States, it strives to teach children and parents about the dangers of illegal drug use and prevent the abuse of legalized and prescription drugs. Each year the Elks holds a DAP poster contest for students in third through fifth grades and an essay contest for those in sixth through the eighth grade. Barbara Homier, a member of the Kingfisher Elks Lodge No. 2416 and also the DAP chairperson, presented local winners with a certificate and gift card. The local winners are sent on to the state contest.
