Enrollment is up at half of Kingfisher County’s public school districts this year compared to the same time a year ago.

The districts that did drop did so marginally.

Showing the biggest gain was Cashion.

Superintendent Sammy Jackson on Thursday reported an enrollment of 719 students. That’s compared to 624 a year ago and 633 two years ago.

Cashion’s elementary (pre-k through fourth grade) has 299 students, the middle school (fifth-eighth grades) reported 215 and the high school (ninth-12th) another 205 students.

Dover’s numbers continue to climb as well.

Interim Superintendent Trilla Cranford said on Thursday the district had 168 students, which is 15 more than the same time in 2020.

The school’s elementary (pre-k through sixth grades) held steady with 89 students. The junior high (seventh-eighth grades) bumped up one student and now has 22 while the high school (ninth-12th) saw the biggest climb.

It now reports 57 students, which is an increase of 14.

Okarche reports 13 more students than at the start of last school year.

Superintendent Josh Sumrall said the district had 400 students enrolled as of Aug. 16.

That includes 218 in the elementary (pre-k through sixth), which is two more than last year.

The junior high and high school (seventh-12th) now have 182, an increase of 11.

Hennessey Public Schools’ student count for the first six days of the 2021-22 year is 843. That compares with 847 for last year.

The student numbers in September 2019-20 were 880 and in 2018-19 were 864.

In the district’s Early Childhood Center (pre-k and kindergarten), there are currently 102 students, down one from last year.

The elementary school (first-fifth) reports 306 students, an increase of four from a year ago.

At the middle school (sixth-eighth), there were 202 students reported Thursday, down three from a year ago.

The high school saw a decrease of six students as it currently has 231, compared to 237 a year ago.

Lomega is virtually the same as last year.

It has 223 students overall, which is just one less than in 2020.

The elementary school (pre-k through sixth) currently reports 118 students, seven fewer than last year.

The junior high and high school bumped six students and now has 105.

Kingfisher’s comparison is tougher to decipher.

The district reported on Thursday that it currently has 1,349 students enrolled.

It had 1,481 students during the 2020-21 school year (enrollment for the beginning of the year was not available).

However, that number reflects all students, including virtual, who were in the district’s system at one time during the year. It does not reflect students who moved out of the district during the year.

Gilmour Elementary (pre-k through second grades) currently reports 369 students.

Heritage Elementary (third-fourth) has 163 students.

The middle school (fiftheighth grades) now has 408 students while the high school reports 409.

The district currently has five grades - kindergarten, fifth, seventh, ninth, 10th - with more than 100 students enrolled.

The current seventh grade class is the largest with 120 students.

The smallest class outside of pre-k (73 students) is the third grade, which reports 81 students.
